Faculty Artist Statements and Profiles
Making art is a search for personal and societal meaning. It is a search for better ways to communicate that meaning than I find in oral and written language. There is subtle nuance barely expressible but perceived emotionally and spiritually. This search and communication is the goal of my work. - Peter Colley

A series of small, seemingly inconsequential, observations, reflections, and actions can, sometimes, be powerful - making the invisible visible and laying bare an internal order. This is why I make art; this is why I teach. - Terri Cummings

To feel the grit of the charcoal, to smell the studio, to see the beauty and power of a single line completes me and gives me a context for my art and my place in this world. To share this with a student completes the circle and I am gratified that the understanding of art will continue. -
