Fort Worth, June 12Texas Wesleyan
University athletic director Terry Waldrop announced today the
hiring of Steve Jones to immediately take over the mens and
womens soccer programs.
Jones, a 1995 graduate of Judson College in
Elgin, Illinois, has spent the last four years as the mens
head soccer coach at Northwood College in Dallas. Before that, he
served as an assistant coach for the 1998 Texas Toros, a level 3
professional soccer club, preceded by a three-year stint as the
head womens coach at Judson College.
While at Northwood, Jones was honored as the
Red River Athletic Conference coach of the year three times, and
in 1997 was named as the NCCAA regional and Chicagoland Collegiate
Athletic Conference coach of the year at Judson.
As a player, Jones has won an NCCAA national
championship, two conference championships, and was named to one
all-conference team.
Texas Wesleyan University, a member of the Red
River Conference of the NAIA, fields teams in Mens and Womens
Basketball, Mens and Womens Soccer, Baseball,
Softball, Volleyball, and Mens Golf, and offers Table Tennis
as a club sport.
