One day after a tough loss to Midwestern State,
The Lady Ram volleyball team returned to the court with a
vengeance, handling back-to-back Red River Conference Western
Division champion UT-Permian Basin with relative ease in a
four-game match.
After a slow start in game one, in which the
Lady Falcons of UTPB took a 6-2 lead, Wesleyan began to find their
rhythm, posting a 30-23 victory in a game that went back and forth
until the Lady Rams pulled away late.
Game two was nearly the opposite, as the Lady
Falcons took a 30-25 victory, closing it out with an 8-3 run.
The pivotal moment of the match occurred with
Wesleyan leading 15-10 in the third game. With senior Leighann
Krey serving, Wesleyan won six consecutive points, including Kreys
8th ace of the season, to pull ahead by 11. The Lady Rams went on
to win the game 30-17.
Game four was more of the same. Wesleyan simply
overpowered the seemingly deflated Lady Falcons, winning the game
30-20 and the match 3 games to one.
Wesleyan improves to 10-9 on the season, 7-2 in
Red River Conference play. UT-Permian Basin falls to 17-8 overall,
6-3 in the conference.
Wesleyans next game is on Saturday,
October 19 against The College of the Southwest. Game time is 3:00
PM in the Sid Richardson Gymnasium.
