AUSTIN, Texas - Junior Cortney
Johansen dished out 50 assists to lead Texas Wesleyan past Huston-Tillotson,
30-26, 30-14, 30-24, Saturday afternoon in Red River Athletic Conference
action.
After opening the season with two victories,
the Lady Rams dropped their next two games, including a 3-0 loss
to Houston Baptist, Friday night.
"The girls rebounded well after losing
last night," head coach Rick Johansen said. "We played
well in every facet of the game."
Leading the way for Texas Wesleyan (3-2,
2-1 RRAC) was sophomore Rachel Loftin who finished with 13 kills,
two aces and three blocks, while junior Tiffany Porterfield added
10 kills.
Freshman Sara Southerland tallied five
aces and junior Nicky Davis added three blocks.
"It is good to get back above .500
in conference-play," Johansen said. "That is the sign
of a good team, when you can put the bad matches behind you and
concentrate on the task at hand."
The Lady Rams will be back in action Tuesday
when they host Southeastern Oklahoma State at 7 p.m., at the Sid
Richardson Gymnasium. Admission is free.
