DENTON, Texas -
The Texas Wesleyan women's soccer team lost, 2-0, to Texas Women's University, Saturday afternoon.

"Texas Women's has a great team," head coach Steve Jones said. "We started out slow and couldn't capitalize on the chances we had."

The Lady Pioneers opened the scoring in the 34th minute when Emily Neinen put a header past Lady Ram goalkeeper Katrina Fishback to put Texas Women's ahead, 1-0. Luci Romberg assisted on the play.

Stephanie Stein scored the only other goal of the game in the 38th minute on another header off of a pass from Melissa Scott.

     Texas Women's (1-2-1) outshot Texas Wesleyan, 27-6.

Texas Wesleyan (4-2) was led by Fishback, who tallied 12 saves in a losing cause.

"They jumped on us early in the first game, but we settled down in the second half and played great team defense," Jones said. "Kat made some great saves to keep us in the game."

The Lady Rams will be back in action Wednesday, at Martin Field when they host 17th-ranked Oklahoma City at 3 p.m.
