FORT WORTH, Texas- Sophomore
Jessica Carrion and freshman Christian Villasenor were both named
Red River Conference co-players of the week for their respective
sides.
Carrion, a repeat selection as Player of
the Week, scored all of the Lady Rams' goals in a 3-2 victory over
University of Texas of the Permian Basin after being held scoreless
in the previous game, a loss to Northwood University (Texas). A
sophomore forward from Fort Worth, Carrion has scored a school record
29 goals this season, surpassing the mark she set last year with
25. Texas Wesleyan is now 10-8 on the season.
Villasenor, who has scored at least one
goal in each of Texas Wesleyan's last seven games and two goals
in five of the seven, collected a goal in a 2-1 win over Northwood
and posted a pair in a 6-1 win over UTPB. With three more goals,
the freshman forward from Crowley, Texas, is now the school's single
season record holder with a total of 23. The Rams are 11-5-1 on
the season and 5-1-1 in conference play.
The men's squad will be in action Tuesday,
when they travel to take on conference-foe Huston-Tillotson at 3
p.m. The women's squad will be back in action Tuesday, Nov. 4th,
when they travel to take on College of the Southwest in the Red
River Conference Semifinals.
