Rams drop doubleheader to Mary-Hardin

BELTON, Texas - The
Texas Wesleyan baseball team struggled to a doubleheader defeat at the hands of
Mary-Hardin Baylor Wednesday afternoon at Red Murff Field. Mary-Hardin
Baylor (16-15) outsluggged Texas Wesleyan (23-22) in game defeating them, 17-7.
The Crusaders also took game two, 11-6. In game
one, Texas Wesleyan matched Mary-Hardin Baylor run for run early on. The Crusaders
pushed across eight runs in the first three innings, but the Rams stayed close,
scoring seven runs of there own in the first three innings. However Mary-Hardin
Baylor did the rest of the scoring, tallying nine runs in the next two innings
to defeat the Rams by the run-rule. The second
game didn't start well for Texas Wesleyan, as the Crusaders again started off
hot, scoring seven runs in the first three innings. They also added nine hits
in the second game to their 25-hit total. Senior
Derek Armstrong again led the Rams going 3-for-6 with three runs scored an one
RBI. Senior Eric Vaughn chipped in with three RBIs. Texas
Wesleyan will be back in action Monday when they host metroplex rival UT-Dallas.
The doubleheader is set for 2 p.m. at LaGrave Field.
