WACO, TX: For the fourth time this season, Texas Wesleyan’s Ben Hunt was recognized as the Red River Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Hunt, a senior guard from Bendigo, Australia, averaged 23.7 points and 3.7 assists per game as TWU extended its current winning streak to 10 games with three more victories last week. Hunt tied both a career high for points in a game (29) and the team record for three-point percentage (7-8, 87.5%) in an 81-71 win over Wiley College (Texas). On Saturday, he racked up 24 points and five assists to knock off Langston University (Okla.), 89-70. For the week, he sank 22-of-40 shots from the field (55.0%) and 16-of-29 three-point attempts (55.0%).
After Monday’s loss at Bacone, Texas Wesleyan sits in second place in the RRAC with a record of 10-3. They trail 14th ranked Houston Baptist (14-1) by 3 games in the conference standings (just two in the loss column), and will host the Huskies on Saturday. That game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Sid Richardson Center.
