#24 RAMS TO HOST #11 HUSKIES
February 10, 2006

FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University men’s basketball team, ranked 24th in the nation, will host Red River Athletic Conference rival and 11th ranked Houston Baptist on Saturday, February 11.  The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Sid Richardson Center.

The game carries even greater importance because, with a win, the Rams could get within one game of the Huskies, in the loss column, for the top spot in the conference standings.  Texas Wesleyan enters the contest with a 10-3 mark in RRAC play (14-7 overall) while Houston Baptist holds a 14-1 mark (18-4 overall)

Although the Rams are coming off a heartbreaking 77-75 overtime loss at Bacone College, they had previously put together a 10-game winning streak.  That was the longest streak in the school’s history since the 1982-83 team won 12 in a row, and it was enough to put the Rams back in the NAIA’s Top-25 national ranking.

Scott Reasoner and Ben Hunt each won RRAC Player of the Week honors during the streak.  Hunt took the award last week after averaging 23.7 points per game in three victories.  Reasoner won the award in the previous week after leading the Rams in scoring in three conference wins.

The Rams began the season ranked 15th in the country, but fell out of the poll after a 3-4 start.  At 14-7, they have finally climbed back into the ranking and currently sit 24th in the nation.

The Huskies have won each of their last five contests and are up to #11 in the country.

In their previous meeting this season, Houston Baptist took an 82-79 win in Houston, TX.  That game featured 23 lead changes and came down to the final seconds.
