FORT WORTH, TX: For the first time since 2000, the Texas Wesleyan University baseball team has been ranked in the nation’s top-25. In the first NAIA poll of the spring, the Rams are slated 22nd.
The Rams are off to a terrific 12-2 start this season. They swept a doubleheader from Oklahoma Baptist and a three-game series from Wayland Baptist, both strong Region VI opponents.
After dropping the season opener at Concordia University-Austin, the Rams rattled off six straight wins before falling to Oklahoma City University. Since that loss, they have rattled off six more wins.
Oklahoma City, another Region VI squad, checked into the poll at #2. Red River Athletic Conference rival Houston Baptist is ranked seventh.
The Rams will be in action this weekend in a four-game series with Red River Athletic Conference newcomer UT-Brownsville. The non-conference series will kick-off with a doubleheader beginning at 1:30 p.m. at LaGrave Field on Friday. |
