Box Score

FORT WORTH, TX:  The 21st ranked Texas Wesleyan University men’s basketball team (14-8, 7-2 RRAC) rode an outstanding performance from Dane Dmitrovic and their best long range shooting day of the year to a 17-point win over Bacone College (6-10, 2-7) on Saturday.  The Rams topped the Warriors 80-63 in the Sid Richardson Center.

The first half was all Texas Wesleyan as the Rams led by as many as 15 (34-19) and took a 37-27 advantage to the locker room.

The Rams stumbled at the start of the second half, and Bacone closed the gap to a single point at 44-43.  With the score still tight at 49-48 with 12:31 to play the Rams really got hot.

Dmitrovic, Kennith Gober, and Fred Eshon accounted for all of the Rams scoring for the next 11 minutes.  The Rams roared ahead by as many as 20, 74-54, and won going away 80-63.

The Rams shot a blazing 60.7% from the field in the second half and 51.7% in the game.  Meanwhile they held Bacone to just 36.4%.  Texas Wesleyan also hit 12-of-26 (46.2%) three-point attempts.

Dmitrovic turned in a dominant performance with 17 points, 17 rebounds, and seven assists.  Eshon went 6-for-10 from long range and finished with 22 points.  Gober added four treys and 14 points.  Andy Laitinen got in on the action down low with 10 points of his own.

Bacone’s Chivas Miller led all scorers with 26 points including five of the Warriors 10 three-pointers.  Ronnie Battle added 17 points for BC.

The Rams will hit the road on Monday, when they travel to Langston, OK, for a meeting with conference rival Langston University.  The Rams got the better of the Lions in Fort Worth earlier this season, coming away with a 64-63 win.  Monday’s contest is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start.
