| FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University men’s basketball team (17-9, 10-3 RRAC) jumped to 15th in the NAIA national poll this week.
With just three games to play in the regular season, the Rams are tied with Texas College atop the Red River Athletic Conference standings at 10-3. However, the Rams hold the tiebreaker over TC by virtue of a season sweep of the Steers.
The Rams have moved up in all but one poll since cracking the national rating for the first time this season on January 23. During that same span, the Rams have taken three RRAC Player of the Week Award including two to sophomore forward Dane Dmitrovic.
Dmitrovic is averaging near a double-double with 10.3 points and 9.5 rebounds per game this season. He also leads the team with 22 blocks while ranking second with 25 steals and 73 assists. Since January 23, he has averaged 11.7 points and 11.6 rebounds per game.
Texas Wesleyan currently ranks in the NAIA’s top-ten in rebounding (41.7 rpg), rebounding margin (7.4), and field goal percentage defense (40.4%).
The Rams will return to the court on Monday in their final home game of the season. They will host Huston-Tillotson University at the Sid Richardson Center. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. |
