FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (7-4) swept a doubleheader from William Woods University (4-3) at LaGrave Field on Saturday.  The Rams took game one 5-3 and game two 6-5.

In game one, the Owls capitalized on a Texas Wesleyan error to score a pair of runs in the third inning.  The Rams came back and turned two hits and a William Woods error into a pair of runs in the fourth inning.

In the sixth, Butch Ballez drew a leadoff walk, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from Brandon Frazier, and scored on a single from Ryan Jacobi.  Zach Smith then drilled a triple to center field and scored on a sac fly from Blake Walker to bring the score to 5-2.

Steven DeFratus (1-1) earned the win after allowing one unearned run on one hit while striking out three in 2.1 innings pitched.  Hayden Lackey notched the final two outs to record his second save of the season.

Antoine Cole led the Rams at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base.

The Owls used two hits and two errors to snag a 2-0 lead in the first inning of game two.  After getting an RBI double from Walker in the first, Texas Wesleyan tied the game when Eric Alvarez ripped a leadoff double and later scored on a William Woods error.

With two outs and runners at the corners in the third, Ryan Jacobi and Blake Walker executed a double-steal to give Texas Wesleyan a 3-2 advantage.

William Woods made it 5-3 with a three-run homer off the bat of Luke Carver in the fifth.  Ryan Jacobi doubled and scored for the Rams in the bottom of the fifth.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Rams loaded the bases with one out and tied the contest when Butch Ballez drew a walk.  The game remained knotted at five into the tenth inning, when Cole laid down a suicide squeeze bunt that brought Brandon Frazier in with the winning run.

Hayden Lackey improved to 2-0 on the season after allowing no runs no hits in the final three innings of the contest.  Blake Walker turned in a 3-for-4 performance for Texas Weslyan at the plate.

The two teams will play one more time on Sunday.  William Woods will take on Cumberland University at 10:00 a.m.  The Rams and Owls will meet immediately following that game.
