FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (5-18, 4-4 RRAC) dropped both ends of a Red River Athletic Conference doubleheader with Bacone College (11-19, 5-3) at Sycamore Park on Friday. The Warriors took game-one 9-1 and game-two 2-0.
Lauren Jones put the Warriors on top with a two-run double in the fourth inning of game-one. That was more than enough support for Robin Chriestenson who allowed one run on just three hits in seven innings of work.
Bacone added five runs on three hits and three walks in the top of the third, and two runs on four hits in the seventh.
Tara Martinez singled and scored in the bottom of the seventh to account for Texas Wesleyan’s lone run.
Ashley Tarrant (2-2) allowed six runs on six hits while striking out five in five innings pitched.
In game-two, Sally Pennington singled and scored in the second inning for Bacone. The Warriors capitalized on a Texas Wesleyan error in the fourth to make it 2-0.
Krysta Hernandez stayed out of trouble until the seventh inning for the Warriors. In the seventh, the Rams loaded the bases with no outs, but Chriestenson came back on to nail down the final three outs in succession and record the save.
Hernadez recorded no strikeouts, and allowed seven hits, but kept Texas Wesleyan scoreless through six innings.
Ashley Oldham (2-7) took the loss after allowing one earned run on two hits while striking out two in seven innings.
Brooke McNabb went 2-for-2 at the plate for the Lady Rams. Ariel Raley added a double in a 1-for-3 day.
The Lady Rams will return to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Durant, OK, to take on Southeastern Oklahoma State University. That doubleheader is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start. |
