FIRST ROUND INCOMPLETE AT PECAN VALLEY
October 22, 2007

SAN ANTONIO, TX:  After a four-hour rain delay at the start of the day, play was not completed in the first Round of the Rattler Invitational at Pecan Valley Golf Club.  The event, which was scheduled for 54 holes has now been shortened to 36.

Texas Wesleyan University, which did finish its round, teed off at 12:00 p.m. four-hours later than scheduled.  The field played through windy and cold conditions for the remainder of the day, and Texas Wesleyan wrapped up its round at 6:00 p.m.

Mitch Hendon led the Rams, who posted a card of 303, with a round of 73.  Armondo Villareal followed at 76.  Paco Saracho and Drew Koonce both shot 77, while Kevin Doskocil finished at 79.

“It was a tough day,” said head coach Kevin Millikan, “but I think we are still in it.  You never know, but I’ll be surprised if anyone broke 300 today.”

First and second round action will be completed on Tuesday.  Conditions should improve slightly tomorrow with a high of 75 degrees.  However, the forecast is calling for a 21 mph wind out of the northwest.
