FORT WORTH, TX: Texas Wesleyan University’s Evoni Darling was named Red River Athletic Conference Volleyball Setter of the Week, while her teammate Chelsy Covington was named Libero of the Week.
Darling, a junior setter from Grapevine, TX, registered 15 assists and five digs as Texas Wesleyan lost to Tarleton State University (TX), 3-0. She also had a pair of kills for the 1-3 Lady Rams. For the season, Darling leads the Lady Rams with 59 assists (4.21/g). She shared her award with UT Brownsville’s Daianarah Bracero.
Covington, a sophomore libero from Hutto, TX, pulled in nine digs against TSU with a 1.000 service percentage on 18 total attempts. For the season, she ranks second on the team with 37 digs and third with seven blocks. Covington shared her award with UT-Brownsville’s Anayeli Trevino.
UT-Brownsville’s Valquiria Caboclo was named Player of the Week as the Scorpions improved to 6-1 on the season.
The Lady Rams will return to action on Wednesday, when they travel to Denton, TX, to take on Texas Woman’s University. That match is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start. |
