2006 Alumni Medal Award Honorees
The 2006 Alumni Medal Award recipients will be honored at a dinner Friday, Oct. 20, at the Fort Worth Club. Each year the Alumni Association bestows awards on alumni and special friends who have made contributions to the University or who have achieved personal or professional success.

W.R. "Bob" Watt to be Honored as Business Executive of the Year
W.R. "Bob" Watt, Jr., President and General Manager of the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show, will be honored Thursday, Oct. 19, as Fort Worth’s Business Executive of the Year during the 37th annual Fort Worth Business Hall of Fame dinner. The event is sponsored by Texas Wesleyan University, the Fort Worth Business Press and the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce. Proceeds from the event benefit the Texas Wesleyan University School of Business Administration and Professional Programs by providing scholarships for business students.
W. R. “Bob” Watt, Jr. has served as president and general manager of the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show since 1978. Twenty years earlier he became a member of the Stock Show Board of Directors and in 1973, was named board secretary and general manager. Under his direction, the Fort Worth Stock Show has grown steadily. Since Watt assumed the presidency, the Show has expanded from 10 to 24 days and livestock and rodeo contestant entries have increased 62 percent. The overall prize purse for the livestock show and rodeo now approaches half a million dollars.

Domestic Violence Awareness Luncheon Oct. 19
Texas Wesleyan Campus Security is sponsoring a domestic violence awareness luncheon at 12 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19. Officer Rick Benson with the Fort Worth Police Department will speak about personal safety and situational awareness. The event is $3 per person and will be held in the Dora Hall Private Dining Room. Mitchell-Reed Community of Learners Oct. 19
The next Mitchell-Reed Community of Learners (Bring Your Own Lunch) will be from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, in the Orientation Room of the West Library. The Global Scholars (Dr. Hal Jeffcoat, Dr. Ibrahim Salih, Dr. Aileen Curtain, Ms. Ann Reed, Ms. Terri Cummings, and Mr. Mark Ma) will present their "Observations of China." Women Exes Fundraiser
Texas Wesleyan Women Exes will hold a fundraiser book review at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, in Bragan Fellowship Hall. The event will feature Dr. Elizabeth Alexander, assistant professor of history, and her book Notorious Woman: The Celebrated Case of Myra Clark Gaines. CIA Recruiter on Campus Oct. 23
The Central Intelligence Agency will be presenting information concerning career and internship opportunities within their organization. A recruiter will be presenting in the GPNA lecture hall at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23. The following day, on-campus interviews will be conducted throughout the day in West Library's orientation room. David Burris, CIA Southwest Region Recruitment, will be recruiting students from all academic disciplines.

Texas Wesleyan University School of Law MPRE Review
Professor James McGrath will hold a substantive review for the November MPRE exam, teaching how to study for the exam and pass it with one week of diligent study. The review will be f rom 10 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, in Room 201. Attendees must pick up a packet of materials from Christina Rodriquez, Faculty Secretary, across from Room 125 on the North Wing.
