United Way Campaign Kick-Off
During last year's United Way campaign, the Texas Wesleyan community went beyond the expectations of a set goal of $5,000 to a startling record of $8,100 in just one week. Our goal this year is to reach $10,000. You should already have received your application to donate to the United Way through campus mail; the President’s Office has extra applications on hand if you did not. Alicia Ross, a United Way Representative, will be on campus during free period Tuesday, Nov. 6, in Lou’s Pavilion to answer any questions. Please come by Lou’s for some refreshments, to turn in your donation, or just chat with Alicia, Lynette or Norma. If you're unable to stop by, just return the completed application to the President’s Office at anytime before the deadline of Tuesday, Nov. 13. For more information, contact Lynette Morones (817-531-4401) or Norma Vallejo (817-531-5820). To learn more about United Way, visit their web site.

RRAC Title Decided in a Shootout
One day after playing 110 minutes of physical soccer, the Texas Wesleyan men’s soccer team (9-8-2) did it all over again. This time the second-seeded Rams battled top-seeded UT-Brownsville (13-4-1) to a scoreless draw through two overtime periods, and the Scorpions took the Red River Athletic Conference title 3-1 in a shootout Saturday, Oct. 27. The game was remarkably close throughout. Joakim Soderbaum stopped all seven of UTB’s shots on goal while Juan Gamboa made six stops for the Scorpions. After 90 minutes of regulation time and two overtime periods, the game went to a shootout. Eddie Hernandez scored first for Texas Wesleyan. The Scorpions answered with their first shot and Gamboa stopped the Rams second attempt. The Rams then missed with shots three and four to give the game to the Scorpions 3-1. “I can’t say enough about the effort from our guys,” said head coach Josh Gibbs. “After a tough game [Friday], they came out and played extremely well against a good team today.”
By reaching today’s title match, both teams have advanced to the Region VI tournament, which will be played at home sites November 3-10. For the latest in Wesleyan athletics news, visit the Rams online.
