Entertainment Law Moot Court Team Wins National Title

Gavel The Entertainment Law Moot Court Team made up of 3L David Pratt, 3L Nolan Shaver, and 3L Holly White, has won a national moot court title. This team successfully competed against twenty-three of the nation's top moot court teams to place first in the Ninth Annual Entertainment Law Moot Court Competition at Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, California. Joe Spence coached the team.

The team advanced through six rounds of competition, judged by some of the top entertainment lawyers in the country, and successfully argued against the top seeded team from University of California Hastings to win the title. In addition to the national championship awarded to the best team overall, the team was also honored with the award for the Best Petitioner's Brief and Nolan Shaver was recognized as the Best Oral Advocate in the final round. "Given the incredibly good competition, I feel truly honored to have been recognized for the advocacy award in the final round," said switch oral advocate Nolan Shaver.  "I am extremely excited about the potential impact that this accomplishment will have for the moot court traveling teams and for our school," said Holly White, the team's swing oral advocate who argued in all six rounds.

This competition marks the first national championship won by any moot court team in the history of the Texas Wesleyan School of Law.
