2007 Goostree Symposium: Tuesday, April 24

HorseshoesAnnie Golightly, a 35-year veteran of entertainment in the Metroplex, will be the keynote speaker for the annual Faye C. Goostree Symposium, set for Tuesday, April 24, at Texas Wesleyan. Golightly, BA ’94, will speak about her latest adventure – riding horseback from Fort Worth to Montana on a cattle drive - at 12:15 p.m. in Martin Hall.

Golightly has sung for four presidents (Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter, Demetrios B. Lakas, (Panama), and a president of Argentina), as well as Governor John and Nellie Connally, Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, Chuck Connors, Leslie Nielsen, Arnold Palmer, and the Notre Dame football team. She has worked with such greats as Tom T. Hall, Rex Allen, Rosemary Clooney, Arthur Duncan, Slim Pickens, Ace Reid, Hondo Crouch, and Boxcar Willie.

And she’s the only woman known to ride horseback from Fort Worth to Montana on a cattle drive. Dreams of a White Horse, to be published this spring, tells the story of this cattle drive, a once-in-a-lifetime experience of self-discovery.

The keynote speech, “The Drive to Dream,” will be followed by a luncheon at 1:15 p.m. in the Louella Baker Martin Pavilion. Tickets are required for the luncheon: $15 for general admission, $12 for Texas Wesleyan faculty and staff, and $8 for students. For more information, contact Jeannie Conner at jconner@txwes.edu or (817) 531-4404.
