In Memoriam
Susan Grambort, daughter of Sue Passmore, professor of education at Texas Wesleyan for nearly forty years, passed away on July 12. Grambort, 37, had been recently diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, and Passmore hopes that everyone will be inspired to visit their doctor more frequently for cancer prevention. The funeral for Susan was held on July 15. She leaves behind her husband and their seven-year-old child.
No gifts are necessary, but should someone desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a medical banking account at Colonial Bank in Susan Grambort's name. Donations may be sent to any Colonial Bank, as long as the check is addressed to Colonial Bank indicating it is for Susan's memorial, or it can be made out to Susan Grambort's account. The Fort Worth branch of Colonial Bank can be reached at 817-817-390-2001; in Arlington, 817-860-7331.

2007-2008 Student Employees
The Office of Human Resources is currently accepting student worker applications for the Fall 2007 semester. If you plan to hire a student worker and have not notified human resources of your hiring needs, please complete and submit a staffing request and payroll requisition to Human Resources. Beginning Aug. 20, all students are only eligible to work up to 20 hours/week. Work-study funding varies based on each student's needs. The employing department will be responsible for 100% of the student's salary after the student's work-study award is exhausted. To provide as many work opportunities and financial aid to the most eligible students, a pay scale of recommended salaries follows. Hiring supervisors should use these salaries as a guideline while taking the department's student worker budget into consideration.

Rams Recognized as Scholar Team
The Texas Wesleyan University men’s golf team excelled on the course and in the classroom this year. The NAIA has announced the 2006-07 Scholar Teams for all sponsored sports, and the Rams were among those honored. To earn that distinction a team must earn at least a 3.0 team grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during 2006-07 academic year, as defined by its institution. The Rams, who featured two Daktronics-NAIA Men’s Golf Scholar Athletes in Mitch Hendon (Jr., Burleson) and Justin Smith (Sr., Runaway Bay, TX), posted a team GPA of 3.03. This is the first time the golf team has been recognized as a Scholar Team by the NAIA.

First Annual Wesleyan-Hughes Volleyball Classic
Texas Wesleyan Volleyball will host the first annual Wesleyan-Hughes Volleyball Classic Sept. 14-15, 2007. The tournament will support the Becky Hughes endowment, and will kick off with the Saturday Volleyball Alumni Reunion and conclude with the Annual Alumni Match.
Hughes coached volleyball at Wesleyan from 1979-1991. She has already been inducted into the Wesleyan Hall of Fame for her contributions and success sustained during her tenure at the University. Hughes still holds volleyball coaching records for the best overall record of 369-194 and winning percentage .655 at Wesleyan. Her Wesleyan volleyball teams made nine appearances at the NAIA National Volleyball Tournament. She continues to contribute to Texas Wesleyan, the volleyball program and volleyball communities on a national level.
Any donations (monetary, concessions, awards, trophies, prizes, gift certificates or raffles) are greatly appreciated. Donations of $25 or more to the Becky Hughes Endowment will be recognized on a "Banner of Appreciation" that will hang in the competition gym. For more information, call Christy Clawson at (817) 531-4850 or email her at cclawson@txwes.edu. For game times, visit www.txwes.edu/athletics.
