Staff Clean Up Day
paint can and paint brushFriday, August 4, is Staff Clean Up Day – volunteers can wear shorts, eat a free lunch, and go home early! To help prepare the campus for the fall semester, staff members are invited to volunteer for the Clean Up Day. Volunteers are needed to paint the benches all over campus and to do small clean-up, including raking and picking up trash that's landed in the landscape. Strong volunteers are needed to help remove, replace, and relocate trash cans, clean out and replace sand in the cigarette containers, and move some tables in the sub. Anyone with a truck and/or yard tools is asked to bring them, if possible. To sign up, contact Karen Pearson at (817) 531-7591 or email her here.

Texas Wesleyan University Freshman Mentorship Program: It's That Time Again!

Mentor and mentee meeting (cartoon) The Texas Wesleyan University Freshman Mentorship Program welcomes all current faculty and staff mentor volunteers to continue their service for the upcoming 2006-2007 school year. The program also invites any new faculty, staff and now upperclassmen to join in their mentoring efforts in servicing and ultimately retaining our freshmen.

It is the Freshman Mentorship Program's goal to increase involvement so that as many incoming students as possible can receive proper guidance as they make the transition from high school to college. Such guidance provides a solid foundation for our freshmen and affords the opportunity for them to be successful students, fromthe first year of college through graduation.

Simply fill out a Mentor Questionnaire under the "Forms" link at http://www.txwes.edu/freshmentor/forms.htm and the Freshman Mentorship Committee will introduce you to a freshman with similar interest and/or backgrounds. If you have participated in the past and would like to continue, please send an email to salexander@txwes.edu. For more information, contact Sharesa Alexander  at (817) 531- 4405 or email her here.

Limited Engagement of The Club at Texas Wesleyan

Cast photo of The ClubCome to the The Club and enjoy a musical diversion by Eve Merriam. Directed by Texas Wesleyan’s Joe A. Brown and set inside an exclusive turn-of-the-19th-century gentleman’s club, this production gives you the chance to hear what these men love – and hate – about the women in their lives, all expressed through the songs of their day.

But the show has a big twist: All the “gentlemen” are played by women. The cast includes Cindy Almond, Jan Gleaves, Pam Goodman, Whitney Park, Connie Sanchez, Quenby Seter and Trich Zaitoon.

This tongue-in-cheek production is presented by A to Z Girls Productions, LLC and Texas Wesleyan University Department of Theatre, by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc. It is only the second production of “The Club” ever produced in this area. Renee Morris is choreographer and assistant director, Neil Mowles is musical director.

The show’s limited run will conclude August 4-6 at the Thad Smotherman Theatre, located in the Law Sone Fine Arts Building, 1205 Binkley. Performances are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and at 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors and students (with ID). Discounted rates are available for groups of 15 or more. Tickets can be reserved by calling (817) 531-4211.
