Academic Interests:
Dr. Smeller, who has taught at Texas Wesleyan University since 1999, has multiple research interests, including American literature, especially nineteenth-century literature and poetry, and studies of gender and sexuality in literature. 

In addition to serving as Faculty Advisor for Sigma Tau Delta, the English honor society, he currently serves as chair of the Faculty Council.

When not engaged in academic pursuits, Dr. Smeller enjoys playing soccer, going to movies, eating out, and hanging around his house in Fort Worth with his wife, Michelle, their new baby, Tristan, and their two dogs, Molly and Leopold.
