Academic Interest:
Dr. Carol Johnson-Gerendas came to Wesleyan in 2008 as a Visiting Professor of English, with prior experience at Wesleyan as an adjunct professor. Her research and teaching interests are in Rhetoric and Composition Theory and Practice, Technical and Professional Writing, Grant Writing, and Early Modern British Literature. Her academic scholarship focuses on the examination of language, especially the voices of women in poverty, and includes examination of the language of politics, visual and media, and trial discourse.
Dr. Johnson-Gerendas has over 25 years of experience in program development and management and brings many years of experience in developing innovative programs related to education, technology, social services, and workforce development. Dr. Johnson-Gerendas consults nationally with non-profits serving low socio-economic communities and is dedicated to helping those with low economic status gain access to the high-quality educations, programs, and services they most certainly need.

Personal Interest:
Dr. Johnson-Gerendas’s primary personal interests are her husband and family. She also enjoys reading, writing, traveling, container gardening, and biking. She volunteers in various capacities for local non-profits serving the elderly and low-income minority families.
