Applying for Loans Federal Subsidized Stafford Loan Completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required to apply for the Federal Subsidized Stafford loan. A student can borrow through the Subsidized Stafford loan program if he/she demonstrates financial need. Federal Unsubsidized Stafford LoanCompletion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required to apply for the Federal Unsubsidized Stafford loan. The Federal Unsubsidized Stafford loan is open to students who do not qualify for the Federal Subsidized Stafford loan or who do not qualify to borrow the maximum annual amount under the Federal Subsidized Stafford loan program Federal PLUS LoanThe Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is not required for the PLUS Loan. Through the Federal PLUS loan, creditworthy parents may borrow up to the cost of attendance at Texas Wesleyan University, less any scholarships and/or financial aid. College Access Loan (CAL)The FAFSA is required for a CAL. The CAL is available to students who are residents of Texas. This loan is in the student's name, but requires a credit worthy cosigner.
