Software

IT provides varying levels of support for Windows Operating Systems and a variety of desktop software products for Windows environments. Supported software products fall into three broad categories, Baseline Software, Non-Baseline, Site Licensed Software, and Discipline Specific Software.

Baseline Software

Baseline Software includes:

  • Standardized basic desktop productivity software (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc.) and
  • Communications software (Internet Explorer, Outlook, Media Player, etc.).

This baseline software suite is available on all machines throughout the campus and does not require an installation request. For these products, IT has the skills, expertise and resources available to provide in-depth assistance.

Non-Baseline, Site Licensed Software

A limited number of approved non-baseline software licenses (SPSS, Contribute, etc.) are available for use by TW employees and can be requested by individuals to be installed in offices, work areas, classrooms and labs.

For these products, IT provides installation and basic troubleshooting assistance. For complex issues and training, you will need to access other resources.

To determine if licenses are currently available, contact the Help Desk at (817) 531-4428 or via email.

If licenses are not currently available, contact your school or departmental administrator and request the software be added to the School or Departmental Technology Priority List for the next budgeting cycle.

Discipline-Specific Software

TW employees may request installation of discipline-specific software in offices, work areas, classrooms and labs. Discipline-specific software includes all software that does not meet the requirements for baseline software or non-baseline, site-specific software.

For these products, IT provides installation assistance. For troubleshooting assistance and training, you will need to access other resources.

To acquire a license for this type of software, contact your school or departmental administrator and request the software be added to the School or Departmental Technology Priority List for the next budgeting cycle.

Not Supported

IT does not support non-Windows operating systems, DOS-based software, or software installed on privately-owned computers.
