Summer 2008 “Travel and Teach” Program

6 hours credit for International Travel Opportunity to Brazil or Peru

July 3 - July 13, 2008, between summer sessions

    2008 summer travel plans are being made for graduate education students to “travel and teach” in one of two locations, Brasil or Peru.   Mark your calendars now to go with Texas Wesleyan University professors and a great group of graduate students in education on an exciting educational adventure!!  You will spend 9 days touring and teaching in Piracicaba, Brasil, or Lima, Peru.   Alumni are welcome to join our groups, space permitting.

     As a “travel and teach” participant, you will hone your teaching skill, while you travel and study the educational issues in one of these two South American countries.   Your experience will give you both the cultural and practical understandings of teaching in another country.

Courses to be offered:  All students must enroll in 2 of the following 3 courses.

    1. Edu 6399.70   Special Topics:  Emerging Education Issues in Brasil (for Brasil travelers)

        Or

        Edu 6399.71   Special Topics:  Emerging Education Issues in Peru (for Peru travelers)

    2. Rdg 6325.70   Developing Literacy (for either Brasil travelers or Peru travelers)

    3. Edu 6358.70   Improving Practice Internship (for either Brasil travelers or Peru travelers)
 

6 hours tuition covers airfare, all arrangements, lodging, transfers, and excursions for the duration of your time in Brasil or Peru.

Additional fee:  To be determined

Alumni:  Fees to cover costs will be determined

What you'll need:   Passport, visa for Brasil, no visa for Peru.  If you don’t have a passport, apply for one immediately!!  Passport applications may take much longer than usual to process.
