John Fisher, professor of music, is in his seventh year as chairman of the Music Department at Texas Wesleyan University. He has also served for more than twenty-two years as coordinator of the theory and keyboard divisions there. His professional activities include studio piano instruction, music theory, composition, and the music of women composers. In addition to his duties at Texas Wesleyan, he recently completed a three-year term as a member of the majors review panel of the Arts Council of Fort Worth & Tarrant County and has been a member on the executive board of the Fort Worth Piano Teachers Forum, the Fort Worth Music Teachers Association, the Texas Music Educators Association, the College Music Society, and the Association for Technology in Music Instruction.

Dr. Fisher earned bachelor and master degrees in music from Indiana University, Bloomington, and a Ph.D. in music theory-composition from the University of Iowa, Iowa City. He has been a music faculty member at Saint Mary’s College in South Bend, Indiana, and as music department chairman at Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Fisher is a much sought-after contest and festival adjudicator in North Texas.
