Ibrahim Salih

Dr. Salih, Professor of Political Science, obtained a B.A. in Political Science at The University of the Pacific (1963), M.A. in Middle East Studies at The American University in Washington, D.C. in 1965, followed by a Ph.D. in International Studies in 1965. Dr. Salih, a native Cypriot, came to Texas Wesleyan University in 1968 and presently serves as the Political Science program director. 

Dr. Salih’s course load includes History of the Middle East, European Governments, Foreign Policy of the United States, American Government, Legislative Process, International Law and International Relations.  Dr. Salih also instructs all Internships required by the program. Dr. Salih has authored several books and monographs, contributed to/reviewed numerous text and journal articles, and spoken at a plethora of academic and community gatherings.

Dr. H. I. Salih has served in various capacities at Texas Wesleyan since coming to the University. These capacities include past Chair of the Social Science Department, Chair of the Political Science Department, various committee panels and past and present Faculty Chair.  He is advisor to student organizations such as Pi Sigma Alpha and the International Club. Dr. Salih also sponsors students in Model Arab League competition and is well recognized as a formidable force by other university league competitors. His travels include Finland, Germany, Mexico, Great Britain, Turkey, Greece, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Cuba, and the Czech Republic (to name a few). Dr. Salih has led study abroad tours to Mexico, the Holy Land, and Cyprus. His expertise and familiarity with the Middle East and current global affairs reflect his sincere commitment to nurturing Wesleyan students as responsible citizens through the complexities of our shrinking world.
