All graduates are encouraged to participate in both the Robing Ceremony and the Graduation Convocation. Each event is a milestone in the academic career of the student.
The Graduation Convocation is the ceremony in which degrees are conferred to graduates and is the final event in a student's academic career at Texas Wesleyan University.
In preparing for Graduation ceremony, students should follow these steps:
- Apply for graduation by submitting an Application for Graduation to the Office of Student Records on the third floor of the Oneal-Sells Administration Building.
- Check the final degree plan with the academic advisor to confirm completion of requirements.(See Academic Requirements)
- Pick up graduation packet when notified by mail of packet pick-up dates.
- If students wish to participate in the Robing Ceremony, they should obtain their selected faculty member's signature on the robing card provided to seniors and return it to the Alumni Office in the Baker-Martin building by the deadline stated on the robing card.
- Graduate Students (Masters' candidate): pay the $50 graduation fee at the Cashier's Office.
- Caps and gowns must be ordered from the Campus Bookstore; announcements are available through Jostens, Inc.
The Grad Finale event, generally held mid-semester, will be announced giving graduates a designated day to pick up their caps and gowns and order invitations.
- All account holds with the University must be cleared, including but not limited to, Bookstore, Library, Parking, and Cashier.
